Introducing Technology-Enhanced Teaching
Module 1
What is Technology-Enhanced Teaching (TET) Competence?
M1. What is Technology-Enhanced Teaching (TET) Competence?
1.1 Module 1 Introduction 1.2 What is TET competence? 1.3 Games-based learning for teaching foreign languages 1.4 Using Game Maker and Flash to teach programming and creativity 1.5 Using a Smartboard to teach literacy and numeracy 1.6 Using Scratch to teach programming 1.7 Resource Section 1.8 Learning Activity |

The learning objectives for this module are:
1. Understand that Technology-enhanced Teaching is a new and not fixed but constantly evolving area, in which frameworks do exist but are of limited value. Appreciate that through teachers’ practice and self and peer-assessment we can better understand this evolving area. 2. Appreciate how games-based learning, games design, a programming tool and an Interactive Whiteboard can be effectively used for Technology-enhanced Teaching in different subject areas and with varying age groups. 3. Create a personal Learning Diary to log learning activities, reflections and resources from the course. 4. Upload evidence of Technology-enhanced Teaching and reflect on it critically and constructively. |
1.8 Learning ActivityDuring module 1 the Learning Activity is to:
Upload one or more pieces of evidence of your Technology-Enhanced Teaching. You can do this in the dedicated forum category Evidence of your Technology-Enhanced Teaching or better still directly in your Learning Diary. Create your Learning Diary. In your first entry you should describe the evidence you have uploaded (including a link to it if possible), explaining the context in which it was used and how effective your or your students’ use of technology was to achieve the intended learning outcomes. |

Мathematics from students to students |
To help you write this self-reflection you can ask yourself some important questions, which were also mentioned in the Module 1 Introduction video. These include:
1) What was the added value of using technology for this teaching/learning task? What did it enable me/my students to effectively do?
2) Did I effectively integrate the technology into my lesson plan, linking it clearly to the learning objectives and syllabus?
3) Was the technology used to its full potential, and did I and my students have the sufficient digital skills to benefit from it? If not, why not, and how might I make sure this is the case in the future?
4) Did the technology support learner choice and personalized learning? Did students use the technology to manage their own learning, by choosing the appropriate resources or tools to support their work?
5) Did the way I use the technology allow the learner to be a co-designer of their learning, and not only a consumer but also a producer?
6) Did my use of the technology allow my students to go beyond learning traditional subject-based competences and develop more transversal 21st century skills such as collaborative problem solving?
7) Did I allow enough time for students to work with the technology, and what could I have done to make the activity run more smoothly?
